Each week we ask one of our members why they started CrossFit and what keeps them coming back for more!

This week our featured member is Coach Ben Allen!

1. When did you start CrossFit? 

I started CrossFit in June 2015

2. Why did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit because I was bored of the same routine every week in the gym, Chest day, Leg day, shoulder day, Treadmill etc.

I was also in the process of joining the military and wanted to get myself prepared for basic training, and I thought the variety of training and body weight movements of CrossFit would help me be more prepared.

3. What’s your favorite thing about coming to CrossFit?

Competing every day, after playing college sports I was used to training and not working out, the difference being the goal is to prepare for a competition.  In CrossFit, I can compete with myself by trying to set PR’s on weight, Metcon times, etc. But also the ability to go do a local competition.

Secondly though, is the knowledge I have gained through CrossFit. I have been exposed to such a variety of health information that is part of the CrossFit methodology. Nutrition, programming, mobility and recovery, Olympic lifting, strongman, powerlifting, gymnastics, Endurance training.  There is so much knowledge in the CrossFit journal and just from each member in the gym that has a different background. Meeting people from every walk of life being brought together to better one another and lift each other up. There isn’t another gym with that atmosphere.
