What is Chiropractic?
Dr. Sarah Fallon
The central nervous system is made up of the brain and the spinal cord and this is truly the life inside of your body. The central nervous system is so important that you were given a skull to protect your brain and a spine to protect your spinal cord. The spine is made up of many vertebrae, each with the ability to move in several directions.
Now, the brain sends messages down the spinal cord and out attached spinal nerves that divide and divide and reach every muscle, organ, tissue, gland… every cell in the body! The messages are sent the opposite way as well- from the nerves, up the spinal cord, and to the brain. This is how your body communicates.
What happens though, if one of those vertebra shifts a few millimeters out of place? After all, there are several joints between every vertebra! The bone may actually make contact with the spinal nerve or spinal cord. This causes interference in the communications between the brain and the rest of the body. It is like static on a telephone line! This “bone on nerve interference” is referred to as a VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION.
As a chiropractor, I have been trained to assess, locate, and remove subluxations from the spine, freeing your body of interference and restoring optimal function.
